John Glenn (CAPCOM)

Good show. Understand you are going to power down.

Wally Schirra

That's affirm. I'll give you a readout on it, so you can watch it.

Wally Schirra

Going to fly-by-wire. Going to gyros caged.

Wally Schirra

Gyros are three zeros at this time. ASCS bus off. I have 0 volts.

Wally Schirra

Roger. Powering down the beacons, ground command.

Wally Schirra

Roger. I have 12 amps at this time.

John Glenn (CAPCOM)

Roger. That's what we show.

Wally Schirra

Roger. Okay I am going from fly-by-wire back to normal now, so I can keep a cold stick.

Wally Schirra

Okay. I am in normal, and I am going to select reentry attitude select for powering up time.

John Glenn (CAPCOM)

. . . this is Cal, you are looking good. . . . see you next time around.

Wally Schirra

Right'o John, and thanks so much for your help.

Wally Schirra

At 04 36 37. I took a light reading, and the light value is 13 for ASA 160.

Wally Schirra

I'll see if I can flounder around with the camera now and get a picture of the Baja.

John Glenn (CAPCOM)

Roger. I understand getting a picture of Baja California.

Wally Schirra

I am just breaking out the camera now, John.

Wally Schirra

Right. I'm sure I'll be ready for it though.

Wally Schirra

Okay. Setting in 11—and we can look down towards the Salton Sea again—on infinity.

John Glenn (CAPCOM)

Yeah. That's a pretty good setting from up there.

Wally Schirra

Yeah. . . . actually, I am looking north of the Salton Sea because of the yaw effect I must have in here. There is just a slight yawing effect just left of the capsule. Maybe about a quarter of a degree per second. Enough to bring me up towards the U.S.A.

John Glenn (CAPCOM)

Roger. Understand. Little slow yaw rate to the left. You are beginning to fade a little bit here. Probably won't get you much longer.

Wally Schirra

Okay. I'm yawing to the right. Sorry I misled you.

Wally Schirra

Going to VOX record.
